Market information obtained from Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in Lagos indicates that the US dollar traded at ₦1,400 for selling and ₦1,385 for buying in the parallel market.
The black market, popularly known as the Aboki FX market, continues to operate outside the official foreign exchange window, with rates often influenced by market demand and the availability of foreign currency.
Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has consistently maintained that it does not recognize transactions conducted in the parallel market. The apex bank has advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to obtain it through authorized commercial banks and other approved financial institutions.
At the official market, the CBN exchange rate recorded a high of ₦1,385 per dollar and a low of ₦1,376.
Foreign exchange rates may differ across locations and dealers, as prices fluctuate depending on prevailing market conditions, demand, and supply.
