The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed claims that it granted an access code to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction led by Nafiu Bala Gombe to upload candidates for the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Gombe had announced in a statement dated July 12, 2026, that his faction had successfully uploaded the party’s presidential, vice-presidential, and National Assembly candidates to the INEC portal.

According to him, the exercise demonstrated the party’s commitment to protecting the interests of its founding and legacy members despite what he described as anti-democratic tendencies.

“The African Democratic Congress (ADC), under my leadership, has successfully completed the upload of our presidential, vice-presidential and National Assembly candidates on the INEC portal for the 2027 general elections,” Gombe stated.

He added that the party remained committed to presenting credible and competent candidates capable of providing purposeful leadership, promoting good governance, and restoring hope to Nigerians.

However, INEC has refuted the claim, insisting that no access code was issued to Gombe’s faction.

Speaking on the leadership dispute within the ADC, the Commission’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mallam Mohammed Kudu Haruna, said the access credentials for candidate nominations were issued solely to the faction led by former Senate President, Senator David Mark.

Haruna said the commission’s records clearly showed that the David Mark-led leadership had been duly recognised and granted access to the nomination portal before the Court of Appeal delivered its judgment on Monday nullifying the faction’s state congresses.

“We never issued any access code to the Nafiu Gombe faction. Before the Court of Appeal judgment, we had already issued the code to the Senator David Mark faction, and they had submitted more than 400 names and particulars of their candidates for the national elections, including those for the presidential candidate and running mate,” Haruna said.
