Iyabo Ojo Reveals Why She Welcomed Her Ex-Husband To Their Daughter’s Wedding

Speaking in an interview with Morayo Afolabi Brown, the actress said she was determined to break what she described as a generational cycle of failed marriages within her family.

According to Ojo, many people attribute such recurring family experiences to ancestral patterns or curses, but she resolved that her children would not have to endure the same challenges she and her parents faced.

She revealed that her parents were separated and that her own marriage also ended, experiences that shaped her commitment to ensuring a different outcome for her children.

The actress said she made several personal sacrifices to support Priscilla’s growth and happiness, adding that she wanted her daughter to enjoy a successful and fulfilling marriage.

Ojo stressed that despite the end of her marriage, her former husband remains Priscilla’s father and deserved to be present and accorded the respect due to him on their daughter’s wedding day.

“I made my choice to marry him, so whatever is going on between me and him is between us. It shouldn’t extend to the children. My parents were not together, and my marriage also failed. I decided my children would not repeat that pattern. I paid the price to make sure Priscilla succeeds and has a happy marriage. Because Priscilla’s father is alive, he deserved to be present and be honoured on her wedding day,” she said.
