Blessing Ezeokafor, daughter of kidnapped businessman and Jezco Group chairman Chief Joseph Ezeokafor, has blamed her younger brother, Eberechukwu Ezeokafor, popularly known as Jowizaza, for what she described as the family’s current predicament.

Blessing, reportedly the businessman’s first child, made the allegations in a series of social media posts while appealing to the kidnappers to release her father.

She claimed that Jowizaza’s public display of wealth and lavish lifestyle had created the impression that the Ezeokafor family had access to enormous financial resources.

According to her, the perception may have influenced the kidnappers to demand an extremely high ransom following their father’s abduction.

Blessing alleged that the kidnappers initially demanded ₦700 million, but later increased the ransom to ₦1.5 billion. She maintained that the family could not afford such an amount and was already burdened by significant financial obligations.

The distressed daughter also accused Jowizaza of allegedly mismanaging their father’s business in the past. She claimed that he was eventually removed as a director and placed on a monthly salary of ₦1 million.

She further questioned the contrast between her brother’s wealthy image online and the family’s alleged financial situation, claiming that he did not have ₦100 million readily available.

Blessing questioned how the family could be expected to raise a ₦700 million ransom when it was allegedly struggling with substantial debts.

In one of her posts, she said, “Why Jowizaza, my brother? You are the cause of this madness. Social media noise, when we don’t have that money. You use audio money to make hoodlums think the money is available.”

She also claimed that the family was owing banks billions of naira and warned that her brother’s public portrayal of wealth could have put their father at greater risk.

She said, “Imagine, ₦1 billion? If anything happens to my dad, I will hold you responsible. Making noise, when we are owing bank ₦40 billion. And these people think the money is there, see what your madness exposing has done to us.”

Blessing accused her brother of maintaining what she described as a “fake life”, insisting that the family’s actual financial circumstances were far removed from the image portrayed on social media.

She added, “Fake life claiming what we don’t have. You are owing banks FCMB N40 billion, no hope to pay, you are owing Union Bank, you are struggling, even American company I introduced you guys Feedco, yet you keep making noise. Now your madness has made people think we have money.”

Appealing directly to the kidnappers, Blessing said the family did not have the financial resources they appeared to believe were available and urged them to release her father.

She wrote, “Kidnappers they don’t have money, it is audio money, please leave my dad alone. Please release him, they are swimming in debt.”

Blessing also defended her decision to speak publicly, saying she was concerned that remaining silent could create the impression that the family was deliberately withholding money from the kidnappers.

She said, “So you want those kidnappers to think we have money and refused to give them and kill him there? I will now become fatherless.”

The distressed daughter explained that she chose to speak out because her father requires medication and she fears for his safety.

She added, “At this point I need to talk so they can be talking reasonable of what we can provide. Dad needs his medication and I don’t want anything to happen to my dad.”

Blessing also criticised her brother’s decision to become prominent on social media, describing it as a major mistake that contributed to the perception of the family’s wealth.

She concluded by warning bloggers against exaggerating the family’s financial status, saying the Ezeokafor family lives a relatively modest life despite the wealth portrayed online.
