Osun Election: APC Raises ALARM, Claims Political Thugs Have Been Moved Into Government House
The All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign media committee has raised an alarm over an alleged mobilisation of political thugs ahead of the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.
The committee claimed that some of the alleged thugs had been brought into the Osun State Government House, describing the development as a potential threat to the peaceful conduct of the election.
Speaking on behalf of the committee while addressing journalists at the Correspondents’ Chapel in Osogbo, Kehinde Ayantunji alleged that the individuals were brought into the state from Lagos.
According to Ayantunji, the alleged group was led by individuals identified by the names Olowe and Iberu, whom he claimed were being accommodated by Governor Ademola Adeleke and members of his team.
He further alleged that the group had been mobilised to disrupt the electoral process in Osogbo and parts of Egbedore should the election result not favour the ruling party.
Ayantunji said, “As I’m speaking to you now, we have intelligence that a large number of political thugs have been mobilised into the government house. In the last two hours, they have been moving in and out, and our intelligence has confirmed that most of these people are not from this State.”
He alleged that the two individuals identified as Olowe and Iberu were the supposed leaders of the group and provided details of vehicles he claimed were used to move the alleged thugs into the Government House.
The APC spokesperson further claimed that the committee had verified its intelligence and obtained photographic evidence to support the allegation.
He said, “We are not just raising this alarm; we have double-checked our intelligence, and we have pictorial evidence of what we are saying here this afternoon.”
APC Alleges Plans To Disrupt Voting
Speaking about the alleged purpose of the mobilisation, Ayantunji claimed that the suspected political thugs could be deployed to various areas shortly before or during the election.
He alleged that their targets included parts of Osogbo, Irepodun and Egbedore Local Government Areas, particularly specific wards and communities.
According to him, the APC’s intelligence suggested that the group had been provided with funds and ammunition to cause unrest in areas where the party believed the ruling party faced potential defeat.
He said the alleged targets included Ward 5 in Osogbo Local Government, Ward 4, Ward 8, Okini, Ido-Osun and Ofatedo in Egbedore Local Government Area.
Ayantunji called on residents, security agencies and the international community to take the allegation seriously.
He also urged security authorities to investigate the claims and take appropriate action against anyone found to be involved in plans to disrupt the election.
The APC campaign committee further called on stakeholders to hold the Accord Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke accountable for any violence that might occur during the election, based on its allegations.
Ayantunji said, “We have to inform the members of the public, and we have to call on the security agents that we have been saying this, but it appears that security agencies are helpless, because we find it very difficult to believe why it’s difficult for security agents to arrest these thugs in the government house.”
He added, “Therefore, we are telling the international community, to the security agents in Nigeria, and to all stakeholders that have anything to do with the Osun election, that if anything happens to our members tomorrow, or any electorate, Governor Ademola Adeleke should be held responsible for shielding political thugs in the government house.”
The allegations were made by the APC campaign committee, and the claims about the alleged mobilisation, identities and intended targets were not independently established in the statement.
