Kwankwaso Reveals Sh*cking Plan For Political Appointments If NDC Takes Power

Published

The National Democratic Party (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said political appointments under an NDC-led government would be based on competence and the needs of the country rather than personal relationships.

Kwankwaso made the disclosure on Sunday in Abuja while featuring on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Personality Interview Series.

He explained that if elected, the party would prioritise the interests of the nation when selecting individuals to occupy key government positions.

According to the former governor, Nigeria needs a combination of technocrats, professionals and experienced politicians with the necessary expertise to effectively manage its ministries, departments and agencies.

He said, “Power will be shared according to the needs of the country; technocrats and qualified politicians with prerequisite knowledge will be appointed.”

Kwankwaso stressed that the president and vice-president could not run the affairs of the country alone, making it necessary to appoint capable individuals who could contribute meaningfully to the administration.

He added that specialised ministries should be headed by people with relevant professional qualifications, knowledge and experience to ensure effective service delivery.

The NDC chieftain also argued that technocrats should not automatically be regarded as individuals without political experience, noting that many politicians possess strong professional backgrounds and technical expertise.

Kwankwaso further said an NDC administration would move quickly to constitute its cabinet after assuming office, rather than allowing unnecessary delays to slow down governance.

He pointed out that government officials would have only four years to fulfil their mandates, making it essential for them to begin working immediately after taking office.
