Police Reveal Sh*cking Truth: Eye Confraternity Members Were After Davido In Adeleke Convoy Attack

The police have disclosed that Nigerian Afrobeats star, Davido, was allegedly the intended target of the attack on the convoy of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Adeleke’s convoy came under attack on Wednesday in Osogbo, the state capital, reportedly involving suspected gunmen.

The incident occurred shortly after the governor visited the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji. The suspected hoodlums reportedly engaged members of the governor’s security team in a gun battle.

According to The PUNCH, the shooting lasted between 12 and 15 minutes and began shortly after Adeleke had left the palace hall following his meeting with the monarch.

The governor had visited the Ataoja after departing the Osun State headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osogbo, where he was presented with his Certificate of Return following his re-election.

Davido, Adeleke’s nephew, who played an active role in the election campaign, accompanied the governor to both the INEC office and the monarch’s palace, along with his children.

Residents of the Oja Oba area of Osogbo said the gunfire sparked panic in the community, with sporadic shooting reportedly continuing for more than 15 minutes as the governor’s security personnel engaged the attackers.

However, the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, said preliminary investigations indicated that members of the Eye Confraternity were allegedly targeting Davido.

According to Ojelabi, a suspected notorious thug and ex-convict identified as Adebayo Taoreed, popularly known as “Small Rugged” and alleged to be a member of the Eye Confraternity, attempted to approach Davido but was stopped by members of the singer’s security team.

He explained that the confrontation subsequently attracted other suspected gang members in the area. The men allegedly blocked the palace entrance temporarily, disrupting the movement of the governor’s convoy.

The police spokesperson further disclosed that a 60-year-old man, Tajudeen Yusuf, was allegedly shot during the ensuing violence.

Ojelabi said the suspected gang members later left the area but allegedly shot Yusuf at Itaolokan in Osogbo while fleeing the scene.

Following the incident, police officers were dispatched to the area, where Yusuf was found seriously injured and lying in a pool of blood. He was taken to the University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo for treatment but was later pronounced dead by doctors.

The police command has since launched a full-scale investigation and intensified efforts to track down and arrest those responsible for the attack.

The Commissioner of Police (Election), Osun State Command, CP Samuel Etaifo, condemned the incident and assured residents that the command would deploy all available resources to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The police also appealed to members of the public with relevant information about the incident to report to the nearest police station or contact the command through its official channels.

Residents were urged to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands as investigations continue.
