Emotional Scenes As Ogogo’s Remains Arrive Ilaro, Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko Attend Burial

The remains of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have arrived in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, ahead of his burial rites.

Hassan, who died at the age of 66 on Sunday, August 23, 2026, was received in Ilaro by members of his family, friends, colleagues and residents who gathered to pay their final respects.

Among the veteran actors who travelled to Ilaro to honour the late actor were Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko. Actress Ireti Osayemi was also present for the burial ceremonies, with footage of her arrival shared on social media.

The actor’s death came after reports that he had been battling stage-four cancer.

Before his death, Hassan’s daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, had made an emotional public appeal for urgent assistance as their father’s health reportedly deteriorated.

The family had revealed that the actor was suffering from an advanced stage of the illness and needed further medical treatment. They reportedly sought alternative treatment after doctors advised that chemotherapy could no longer be administered due to his condition.

According to the burial programme, Hassan’s remains were transported to Ilaro for the commencement of his final rites.

A lying-in-state ceremony was scheduled to hold at the Pavilion in Ilaro on Monday, allowing family members, colleagues, friends and sympathisers to pay their last respects before his burial.
