Cement Price Shock: See How Much Dangote, BUA, Others Sell Per Bag This Week

The price of cement in Nigeria remains a major concern for builders, contractors, property developers and prospective homeowners as the rising cost of construction materials continues to increase the financial burden of building projects.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the latest price range indicates that a 50kg bag of cement from some of the country’s leading manufacturers currently sells for between ₦12,000 and ₦14,000, depending on the brand, location and point of purchase.

Dangote Cement, BUA Cement and Mangal Cement are currently selling at about ₦12,000 per 50kg bag, while Lafarge Cement is priced at approximately ₦12,200.

Linma White Cement remains comparatively more expensive, with a 50kg bag going for around ₦14,000.

The current estimated prices are Dangote Cement at ₦12,000, BUA Cement at ₦12,000, Mangal Cement at ₦12,000, Lafarge Cement at ₦12,200 and Linma White Cement at ₦14,000 per bag.

However, the actual price paid by consumers may differ across locations due to transportation costs, dealer margins, supply availability and prevailing market conditions.

Recent industry data indicated that cement prices increased considerably in different parts of Nigeria during 2026. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission had reported that prices in some locations rose to between ₦13,000 and ₦15,000 per 50kg bag in July.

The continued increase has been linked to several factors, particularly the rising cost of energy used in cement manufacturing.

Cement production requires significant amounts of energy, with manufacturers depending on sources such as gas, coal and diesel to operate their plants. Any increase in energy costs consequently adds to the overall cost of production and can eventually affect retail prices.

Dangote Cement Chairman, Emmanuel Ikazoboh, had previously stated that energy accounts for about 60 per cent of the company’s cement production costs, underscoring the significant impact of energy prices on the final cost of cement.

With cement remaining a crucial component of construction, fluctuations in its price continue to affect the budgets of individuals and businesses involved in building projects across the country.
