Wike Mourns Dan Orbih, Says ‘One Of Edo’s Biggest Political Trees’ Has Fallen

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has expressed grief over the death of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice Chairman, South-South, Daniel Orbih, describing the late politician as one of the most influential figures in Edo State’s political landscape.

Wike, in a condolence message issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, described Orbih’s death as the fall of “one of the biggest trees in the political forest of Edo State.”

The FCT Minister said the death was particularly painful to him, noting that he had lost not only a committed political associate but also a true friend.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Orbih’s family had earlier announced his death in a statement signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih.

The family disclosed that the deceased was survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih; his children, Ms Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih; as well as his siblings and other members of his extended family.

The family also appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember them in their prayers as they mourned the loss.

Reacting to the development, Wike described Orbih as a great politician, a man of faith and a dependable friend who made significant contributions to political activities in Edo State and beyond.

Wike said, “I have lost a friend and a committed political ally. Dan Osi Orbih was everything anyone could desire in friendship and political associate. But we can’t question God, He gives and He takes.

“On behalf of myself, my family and political associates, I commiserate with the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih, on the demise of Chief Dan Orbih, a good friend, a great politician, and a man of faith in the Almighty God.”

Orbih’s death has continued to attract tributes from political associates and other Nigerians, with many acknowledging his longstanding involvement in the country’s political affairs.
