Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has appointed Bright Ozebagbe and Deniran Ortega as assistant coaches of Nigeria’s Olympic Eagles ahead of the team’s preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers.

The appointments were announced on Tuesday, September 1, by Kola Daniel, Special Assistant on Media to the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC).

Chelle, who is also responsible for overseeing the Olympic Eagles, described Ozebagbe and Ortega as two of Nigeria’s promising young coaches with impressive coaching profiles.

The French coach expressed confidence in their abilities and said he was pleased to have them join his technical team as the country prepares for the Olympic qualifying campaign.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Ozebagbe currently serves as Technical Adviser of Nigeria Premier Football League side Ikorodu City, who narrowly missed out on a continental qualification spot on the final day of last season.

Ortega, meanwhile, is a UEFA-licensed coach who has undergone training with the Scottish Football Association and currently works as one of the assistant coaches of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles.

Chelle has already presented his plans for the Olympic Eagles to the leadership of the National Sports Commission and is expected to commence preparations with the team in Abuja in the coming weeks.

Nigeria’s qualification campaign for the 2028 Olympic Games is scheduled to begin in November 2026, with Chelle expected to use the coming period to assemble and prepare a strong squad for the qualifiers.
