JAMB, WAEC Announce New ₦4,000 Charge For Result Verification

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have announced a one-time ₦4,000 fee for candidates seeking to verify their WAEC O’Level results for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the two examination bodies disclosed the new arrangement in a joint statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Under the new system, candidates whose admission processes are being handled through JAMB will be required to verify their WAEC results through the JAMB platform after paying the stipulated ₦4,000 fee.

Once the verification process is completed, the verified result will be made available to the tertiary institution where the candidate is seeking admission.

JAMB and WAEC clarified that candidates will not be required to make another payment for the same verification exercise at individual institutions. The ₦4,000 charge is therefore a one-time payment covering the verification process.

The examination bodies further directed universities, polytechnics and other tertiary institutions to rely on verified O’Level results transmitted to them through JAMB when conducting admission screening and processing candidates.

They stressed that institutions should not demand an additional verification fee from candidates who have already completed the process through the JAMB platform.

The arrangement forms part of a system introduced by JAMB to enable candidates to upload and verify their O’Level results remotely, eliminating the need to visit institutions physically for the verification process.

Candidates are therefore expected to complete the verification through the approved JAMB platform and ensure that their WAEC results are properly uploaded and verified as part of the admission process.
