Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has sparked reactions online after suggesting that he may eventually step away from music to focus on building greater wealth.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the singer made the remark during a heated exchange with Nigerian rapper Erigga on X, formerly known as Twitter, following a discussion about musicians who come from wealthy families and those who had to struggle financially before achieving success.

The exchange began after Erigga praised artistes who did not come from privileged backgrounds and had to work hard to establish themselves in the music industry.

Davido, however, challenged the idea that coming from a wealthy family automatically means an artiste did not work hard for their achievements. He argued that musicians from financially privileged backgrounds could also put in significant effort to reach the top.

The disagreement later intensified, with Davido dismissing Erigga’s position and describing it as “useless motivation” during the exchange.

In the midst of the conversation, the award-winning singer made a surprising statement suggesting that he could eventually leave the music industry after achieving his financial ambitions.

Davido indicated that he intended to make billions before stepping away from music, adding that he could eventually find the industry boring.

The comment quickly attracted attention from fans and social media users, with many interpreting it as a possible hint about the singer’s long-term plans.

Davido has increasingly explored interests outside music through various investments and business ventures, making his latest remarks particularly notable.

The singer also questioned the idea of accepting poverty, asking whether anyone genuinely wants to remain poor, as the online exchange continued to generate reactions.
