Tim Curry’s Cause Of Death Finally Revealed At 80

The cause of death of veteran British actor Tim Curry has been revealed following his death at the age of 80.

According to Bush Radio Academy, records obtained from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health indicate that Curry died on August 25 from coronary artery disease.

The records also listed the complications from a previous stroke and kidney cancer as contributing factors to his death. The document stated that Curry had not undergone surgery for the stroke, kidney cancer or coronary artery disease.

Curry’s death was confirmed by Jimmy Franco, Senior Director of Press at Grand Central Publishing, his publisher. Franco described the news as “very sad” but said he had no further comment at the time.

The Los Angeles Police Department also confirmed that officers responded to a death investigation involving a man in his 80s at a residence at approximately 11:20 p.m. No foul play was suspected.

Curry became an internationally recognised figure in popular culture following his iconic portrayal of Dr Frank-N-Furter in the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He had first played the character in the original 1973 London stage production before reprising the role on Broadway and in the film adaptation.

Beyond The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Curry was widely known for his portrayal of Pennywise in the 1990 television miniseries It, as well as roles in Clue, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and The Three Musketeers.

His career spanned several decades across theatre, film and television. Curry received three Tony Award nominations for his performances in My Favorite Year, Amadeus and Spamalot. He also won a Daytime Emmy Award and received a Primetime Emmy nomination.

In 2012, Curry suffered a major stroke that left him using a wheelchair. Despite the health setback, he continued working in voice acting and later returned to live-action film, appearing in the 2024 movie Stream.

Curry’s death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans and admirers who remember him for his distinctive performances and lasting contribution to entertainment.
