Dior Adiele Reveals Shocking Childhood Ordeal, Says Three Uncles Abused Her
Media personality Dior Adiele has opened up about painful experiences from her childhood, speaking candidly about alleged abuse, family challenges and the lasting emotional impact of her upbringing.
Speaking during a recent episode of the Talk to B podcast, Adiele alleged that she was abused on several occasions by three different uncles between the ages of six and 13.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Adiele said the incidents occurred despite her parents’ efforts to shield her from potential dangers outside the family home.
She explained that growing up in a traditional Igbo household came with different expectations for her and her brother. According to her account, her brother enjoyed greater freedom because he was regarded as the family heir, while she was often restricted from going outside to play.
Adiele said the restrictions her parents believed would protect her ultimately failed to prevent the alleged abuse, which she claimed instead occurred inside the family home.
She described the experience as something that happened repeatedly over several years rather than being an isolated incident. According to her, the alleged abuse involved three different uncles and continued from when she was about six or seven until she was 13.
Reflecting on her teenage years, Adiele also disclosed that she began smoking at around the age of 13. She said the habit continued until she became pregnant at 20, which she described as a major turning point that eventually led her to stop smoking.
The media personality also spoke about the difficulties experienced by her brother, whom she described as intelligent and talented. She recalled noticing changes in his behaviour after he returned from school and said the family eventually sought assistance.
Adiele alleged that her mother took her brother to rehabilitation centres on two occasions but later removed him and took him to church because she believed his challenges had a spiritual dimension.
She further recounted an alleged violent incident involving her brother and their mother, claiming that he once grabbed their mother by the neck and attempted to throw her from an upper floor.
Despite the difficult experiences she associates with her childhood and family life, Adiele stressed that she still loves her parents. However, she said loving them does not mean ignoring what she considers to have been their failures.
She maintained that she would have preferred her parents to acknowledge their mistakes and take responsibility for the shortcomings she believes contributed to some of the difficulties she experienced while growing up.
