Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has declared his support for Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, to secure a second term in office ahead of the 2027 elections.

Idris made his position known during a solidarity visit to Governor Bago in Minna, where he commended the governor’s performance and urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain united as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

According to the minister, Bago’s achievements under the administration’s New Niger Agenda have demonstrated that the governor deserves another term to consolidate the progress recorded in the state.

Idris praised Bago’s commitment to transforming Niger State through various development projects and government programmes, noting that a second term would provide the administration with an opportunity to complete ongoing initiatives and further advance development across the state.

The minister also appealed to APC members and Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027.

He argued that continued support for Tinubu would enable the Federal Government to consolidate its economic reforms and other initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said were designed to reposition the economy and improve the welfare of Nigerians.

Idris further urged members of the ruling party to put aside personal interests and work collectively ahead of the elections. He stressed the importance of presenting a united front at both the national and state levels.

The minister was reportedly in Niger State to commiserate with the family of the late Chairman of the National Population Commission, Aminu Yussuf, before paying a visit to Governor Bago.

Responding, Bago expressed appreciation to the minister for the visit and for his confidence in the administration.

The governor pledged to sustain his government’s development programmes, assuring residents that his administration would remain focused on improving their welfare and overall quality of life.
