Sowore Fires Fresh Warning At Governors, Promises To Redirect Their Funds If Elected In 2027

African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has outlined some of the policies he intends to pursue if elected president in the 2027 presidential election, including restoring fuel subsidy and addressing what he described as capital flight by political office holders.

Speaking on the Morayo Show, Sowore alleged that some governors and politicians routinely move funds abroad while ordinary Nigerians continue to struggle with rising economic hardship.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the AAC candidate said one of his immediate priorities would be to restore fuel subsidy, arguing that government resources should be redirected towards improving the welfare of Nigerians.

“The immediate things I will do is to restore subsidy. I will take the money from the governors, who change them to dollars and take them to Dubai every month and put it in your pocket,” Sowore said.

He also alleged that several lawmakers operate Bureau de Change (BDC) businesses, which he claimed contribute to capital flight and worsen economic difficulties for ordinary citizens.

Sowore maintained that Nigeria’s economic resources should be used to improve the living conditions of the people rather than being diverted abroad.

Asked about his chances in the 2027 election, the AAC candidate urged Nigerians to carefully assess the available presidential candidates and support the person they believe can best address the country’s challenges.

He also criticised former governors seeking the presidency, questioning their records after spending eight years in control of their respective states.

“Nobody can convince me to support anybody who was a former governor before. You spent eight years as governor, you didn’t turn your state to Dubai, and you want to come and tell me you want to turn Nigeria to Dubai in four years. It’s a lie,” he said.

Sowore further expressed concern about Nigeria’s education system and criticised what he described as “analog leadership” overseeing a generation increasingly shaped by digital technology.

On ongoing opposition coalition discussions, the AAC candidate said he had never been part of the political camps of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi or President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Sowore is continuing his campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election, positioning himself as an alternative to Nigeria’s established political parties and figures. His pledge to restore fuel subsidy is consistent with his longstanding opposition to its removal, a position he has repeatedly defended during the build-up to the 2027 contest.
