A Nigerian woman has sparked discussion online after warning people to be cautious about publicly sharing their achievements, claiming that her personal experiences made her believe that challenges can sometimes follow after major accomplishments are openly celebrated.

In a video shared on TikTok, the woman recounted an experience involving her business after she publicly announced that she had completed a sale involving more than 6,000 orders. According to her, she subsequently experienced an unusual situation at her store, which she interpreted as a warning about revealing too much about her success.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the woman advised people to exercise discretion when sharing personal milestones, particularly achievements that could attract significant public attention. She also extended the warning beyond social media, saying she had become cautious about publicly celebrating achievements even in church.

She recalled another difficult period in her life after her mother publicly celebrated her admission and other positive developments during a church service. According to her account, her family had recently moved to a new location that was still largely unfinished when her mother took the microphone during the service to share the family’s testimony.

The woman said her mother enthusiastically announced her admission and other positive developments in the family’s life. However, she claimed that the period that followed became extremely difficult for them.

She further disclosed that she eventually had to leave school because her family could no longer afford her education. She also recalled that her family considered relocating her to Libya and had even made preparations for the move, including having a hijab sewn for her.

Reflecting on the experience, the woman suggested that publicly sharing achievements may sometimes attract unwanted attention. She therefore advised people to be more private about their personal progress and major milestones.
