Kebbi APC Challenges ADC, Says Governor Idris Should Be Judged By Projects
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has challenged the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) to assess Governor Nasir Idris’ administration based on the projects it has delivered rather than what it described as allegations of a “fiscal mystery” surrounding the state’s finances.
The party maintained that the administration had made significant investments in infrastructure and key sectors, including roads, education, healthcare, housing and agriculture, adding that the impact of the projects was visible across the state.
Acting APC Chairman in Kebbi State, Adamu Mudi Augi, made the remarks while addressing journalists at the party secretariat in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Augi’s comments came after the ADC raised concerns about the implementation of Kebbi State’s 2025 budget, particularly the disparity between projected and actual revenue and expenditure.
Augi highlighted several projects executed by the Governor Idris administration, including the dualisation of the Birnin Kebbi-Ambursa Road. He also pointed to the rehabilitation of schools, establishment of science and skills boarding schools, procurement of textbooks and recruitment of teachers as part of the government’s achievements.
The APC chairman further stated that the government had upgraded hospitals and primary healthcare centres, recruited additional health workers and constructed the 250-unit Kauran Gwandu Housing Estate.
On agriculture, Augi said the administration had supported farmers through the distribution of fertilisers, improved seeds and solar-powered irrigation pumps, among other interventions.
The Kebbi State Government had earlier dismissed allegations of financial mismanagement concerning its N580.33 billion 2025 budget.
The government explained that the difference between projected and actual revenue was caused by revenue that was not realised, insisting that the shortfall should not be interpreted as missing funds.
It further stated that expenditure was adjusted in response to revenue shortfalls and disclosed that nearly N240 billion was spent during the year, with more than N152 billion allocated to capital projects.
Reacting to the ADC’s concerns, Augi urged the opposition party to focus its assessment on the administration’s performance, policies and completed projects.
“Let them debate performance, not invent a fiscal mystery. The people of Kebbi can see the projects and assess the impact of the government’s programmes for themselves,” he said.
