Two Men Sentenced Over Shocking Violent Robbery At Donnarumma’s Paris Home

Two men linked to the violent burglary at the Paris residence of Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his pregnant partner, Alessia Elefante, in 2023 have been sentenced to prison terms.

Ilyas Kherbouch, 21, who prosecutors identified as the alleged mastermind of the operation, was sentenced to nine years in prison and fined €80,000 by the Paris Criminal Court on Friday, September 11.

His co-defendant, Moktar D., received a five-year prison sentence, with two years suspended under probation conditions. However, a third defendant, 22-year-old Khyan M., was acquitted after prosecutors had accused him of helping coordinate the robbery while he was in prison.

The incident occurred in July 2023 when Donnarumma was still playing for Paris Saint-Germain. The Italian goalkeeper and Elefante were reportedly pulled from their bed and held at knifepoint by four masked men who gained access to their luxury ninth-floor apartment on Avenue Montaigne through the rooftops.

Donnarumma was allegedly beaten with hard-knuckle gloves until he sustained injuries and began bleeding, while Elefante was reportedly strangled with a phone charging cable. The couple were separated and restrained as the attackers demanded their valuables, repeatedly shouting for money and watches.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the seven-member gang escaped from the apartment within minutes after stealing cash, jewellery, watches and luxury handbags. Donnarumma later estimated that the stolen valuables were worth just under €1 million.

The traumatic incident reportedly had devastating consequences for Elefante, who later suffered a miscarriage that was attributed to the psychological and physical trauma she endured during the attack.

Prosecutors had requested prison sentences ranging from four to 10 years for the three defendants, describing the robbery as both highly profitable and exceptionally violent. They also warned that the exclusive Avenue Montaigne area had increasingly become a target for younger criminal groups.

Kherbouch and Khyan maintained their innocence despite prosecutors presenting messages and photographs recovered from phones they had used while in custody. Moktar, who was the only defendant alleged to have been physically present at the scene, claimed that his role was limited to acting as a lookout.

Donnarumma subsequently left Paris Saint-Germain and joined Manchester City in 2025, approximately two years after the violent robbery.
