Ruben Dias Sedns Strong Warning As New Man City Signings Show Hunger To Win Under Maresca

Manchester City captain Ruben Dias has revealed that the club’s new signings have brought renewed ambition to the squad and are determined to win under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Manchester City broke the Premier League transfer record by spending £458 million during the recent transfer window, while the club generated more than £300 million from player sales. However, the major squad overhaul also saw the departure of several experienced players, including 2024 Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, former captain Bernardo Silva and England defender John Stones.

Dias, who joined Manchester City from Benfica for £65 million in 2020, has remained an important figure in the team’s leadership structure and was handed the captaincy by Maresca. The Portugal international believes the club can maintain its winning mentality by combining the experience of established players with the hunger of the new arrivals.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Dias said the arrival of ambitious players who are eager to win has helped ensure that the club remains focused on achieving success despite the significant changes within the squad.

“In terms of the role I have, it goes down to trying to be the best version of yourself, and in terms of that, nothing has changed,” Dias said.

“So many people have left and so many winners have left, and now new people have joined with a lot of ambition and people that are desperate to win and that is also what makes the club keep on going.”

Maresca took over from Pep Guardiola, who ended his decade-long spell in charge of Manchester City at the conclusion of last season. Although Dias admitted that Guardiola’s departure was difficult for the club, he believes Maresca is well suited to the position because of his previous knowledge of the team and his experience working within Guardiola’s setup.

The Manchester City captain described Maresca as the “perfect person for the job” and praised the new manager’s tactical ideas, noting that the squad has quickly embraced his methods.

Dias explained that Maresca’s influence could already be seen in areas such as pressing and defensive organisation, adding that the players are enjoying training and are excited by the direction of the team.

“There’s obviously many things from training session to some details about the way we press, details about the way we defend and that make all of these Enzo’s idea,” he said.

“I feel like everything is making a lot of sense. Everyone is buying into the idea. Everyone’s excited about it and there is a lot of joy in training, which is massively important.”

Manchester City have made an impressive start to the new campaign, winning their opening four matches across the Premier League and Champions League. Their next major test will come against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
