2027: Wike Predicts Amaechi Will Abandon Presidential Election Before Voting Ends

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has predicted that Rotimi Amaechi, the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), will call on his supporters to boycott the 2027 presidential election before voting ends on election day.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Wike made the prediction while speaking at a grand reception held in his honour in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday.

The FCT Minister said Amaechi would allegedly realise early on election day that defeating the political coalition supporting Wike in Rivers State was beyond his reach.

Wike claimed that Amaechi could ask his supporters to withdraw from the electoral process before 11am after becoming convinced that he could not secure victory.

He also mocked the former Rivers State governor over the expected level of support he would receive in his hometown, challenging him to first win his polling unit and community before claiming victory in the wider election.

Wike further criticised the security arrangements that previously accompanied Amaechi during his political activities in Rivers State. He alleged that the former governor had moved around with large numbers of soldiers and police officers, which he claimed were used to intimidate residents.

The minister said such a security presence would no longer be available to Amaechi and argued that the people of Rivers State would instead determine the outcome of the election through their votes.

Wike maintained that the political contest would be decided by ordinary Rivers residents rather than by security formations or political influence, insisting that the people themselves would constitute the force that determines who wins.

His remarks come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Wike and Amaechi positioned on opposing sides of the emerging political contest in Rivers State.
