Carabao Cup Shock: Fleetwood Town Draw Arsenal In Historic Fourth-Round Clash

Fleetwood Town have been drawn at home against Premier League champions Arsenal in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, setting up a historic encounter for the League Two club after reaching this stage of the competition for the first time in their history.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Fleetwood secured their place in the last 16 with a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United on Wednesday night. Arsenal had already booked their place in the fourth round after defeating Ipswich Town 4-2 a day earlier.

The result means Fleetwood are now preparing for one of the biggest home fixtures in the club’s history, with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal scheduled to travel to Lancashire for the highly anticipated tie.

The draw also produced several all-Premier League encounters, with Liverpool set to host Chelsea in one of the standout fixtures. Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso will make a return to his former club when the two sides meet.

Carabao Cup holders Manchester City will face Brighton at the Etihad Stadium if they overcome Norwich City in their outstanding third-round fixture. Everton have been drawn at home against Newcastle United, while Sunderland will welcome Brentford.

Bournemouth will host Aston Villa, while Fulham will take on Crystal Palace in another all-Premier League meeting.

Bradford City and Peterborough United will contest the only tie involving two League One clubs. Bradford advanced after eliminating Leyton Orient, while Peterborough defeated Barnsley in the third round. Their meeting guarantees that a League One side will reach the quarter-finals.

The fourth-round fixtures are scheduled to be played during the week commencing October 26.

Fleetwood will now turn their attention to the historic visit of Arsenal to Lancashire, while the other confirmed or conditional fourth-round fixtures see Manchester City or Norwich City face Brighton, Everton meet Newcastle United, Sunderland take on Brentford, Liverpool host Chelsea, Bradford City battle Peterborough United, Fulham welcome Crystal Palace and Bournemouth face Aston Villa.
