A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after recounting how her cousin reportedly obtained A1 grades in all his WAEC subjects before later scoring 85 in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the story was shared on X by a user identified as @kenkenlewu, who explained that the boy’s outstanding WAEC result initially raised doubts from his father.

The lady claimed that her cousin checked his WAEC result and discovered that he had recorded A1 grades across all his subjects. However, his father reportedly questioned the result, expressing disbelief that the boy could achieve such grades based on his previous academic performance.

According to the account, the father confronted the boy and asked how he managed to produce such an impressive result. The boy reportedly maintained that he had been studying seriously, but his father remained unconvinced and allegedly told him that he was not academically brilliant enough to achieve such scores.

The situation reportedly changed when the boy eventually revealed how he had obtained the outstanding grades. He allegedly confessed that his mother had been giving him ₦3,000 daily during the examination period to obtain “expo,” a Nigerian term commonly used to describe unauthorised assistance or leaked examination answers.

Following the revelation, the boy’s father reportedly decided that he should retake the WAEC examination. However, his mother was said to have rejected the idea and instead obtained a JAMB application form for him.

The boy subsequently sat for the JAMB examination and, according to the lady’s account, scored 85. The unexpected difference between the reported WAEC result and JAMB score has since generated reactions online, with many people debating the circumstances surrounding the boy’s academic performance and the consequences of examination malpractice.
