Money, Money, Money – Ojay Wright Speaks On His Experience Dating In Nigeria

Nigerian-American singer Ojay Wright has opened up about his experience dating Nigerian women after relocating to Nigeria, describing the frequent requests for money as one of the biggest culture shocks he encountered.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Wright made the disclosure during a recent interview while reflecting on the differences between dating in Nigeria and what he was accustomed to abroad.

The singer said he was surprised by how often financial requests came up during his interactions with women he was dating. He explained that, in his experience abroad, people could simply interact and get to know each other without money becoming an immediate subject of discussion.

Wright said the situation was notably different in Nigeria, claiming that even a simple greeting could sometimes be followed by a request for money.

He explained that the experience became particularly noticeable during his first few months in the country, saying he had rarely met someone who did not ask him for money within the early stages of their interaction.

The singer, however, clarified that he was not against spending money while dating. Rather, he said what surprised him was the frequency with which financial expectations appeared to arise.

Wright maintained that his major concern was the repeated focus on money, which he described as one of the most striking differences he had encountered since beginning to date in Nigeria.
