The President’s February presidential victory is being challenged in court by plaintiffs named Anyaegbunam Okoye, David Adzer, Jeffrey Ucheh Osang Paul, and Chibuike Nwanchukwu. They argue that the President should be disqualified because he did not manage to obtain 25% of the votes from the residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
On Tuesday, presiding judge Inyang Ekwo issued an order for the lawyer representing the five residents to individually pay a sum of N10 million each to the attorney-general of the federation and the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Deji Adeyanju expressed dissatisfaction to the court case which lacked locus standi. He claimed “How can a lawyer go to court to say they shouldn’t declare someone president because he didn’t score 25% in FCT? Now, Court has fined him.”
He added, “Twitter convinced a lawyer that votes of Abuja is superior to other states in the federation and he went to court embarrass himself, lol.”
