Tinubu Cuts Short Stay In Paris, Departs For Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has concluded his working vacation in Europe and departed Paris, France, for Nigeria, with his aircraft expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday evening.

According to Bush Radio Academy, citing information from the Presidency, Tinubu is expected to begin his return schedule in Lagos, where he will participate in activities marking Nigeria’s Independence anniversary and honour the memory of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga disclosed that Tinubu is scheduled to attend the premiere of a movie commemorating MKO Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos, on October 1.

Onanuga also said the President will hold a series of meetings with political leaders and associates during his stay in Lagos before returning to Abuja.

Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for his working vacation, initially spending about a week in London before proceeding to Paris. The Presidency had earlier announced that the President’s vacation was extended by a few days.

During his stay in France, Tinubu held meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré. The Presidency said discussions with Bolloré included investments and the expansion of operations in Nigeria’s creative and digital economy.

The President also witnessed the signing of an agreement involving the Ogun State Government and DP World concerning the proposed Gateway Deep Seaport and Blue Marine Economic Zone at Ogun Waterside. The project has been described by the Presidency as involving a planned investment of $7 billion.

The Presidency has maintained that Tinubu continued to direct government affairs and remain in contact with officials while abroad. His return to Lagos is expected to precede his participation in Independence Day activities before he eventually proceeds back to Abuja.
