Tragedy At Kebbi-Niger Border As Bandits K!ll Three Vigilantes In D3adly Attack

Three vigilantes from Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State have reportedly been k!lled by suspected bandits while returning from Agwara in Niger State.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the victims were identified by local sources as Abubakar Mai Nera, the vigilante commander in Saminaka, Tanko Sarki and Amadu Saminaka.

The three men were reportedly from the Saminaka and Bakinturu communities in Shanga Local Government Area. They were said to have come under attack around Kasabo, Binuwa and Mago communities, across the River Kwara along the Kebbi-Niger border.

A local resident who spoke on condition of anonymity alleged that the vigilantes were ambushed while making their way back from Agwara. The source further claimed that the attackers set the victims ablaze after the reported attack.

“The three vigilantes were attacked while returning from Agwara in Niger State. They were ambushed around Kasabo, Binuwa and Mago, across the River Kwara,” the source said.

The source added that the victims’ bodies had not been recovered as of the time of the report, with search teams and residents of the affected communities continuing efforts to locate them.

According to the resident, the incident occurred on Friday, and the search operation was still ongoing as community members hoped the remains would eventually be found and returned to the families for burial.

The reported attack has heightened security concerns among communities located along the Kebbi-Niger border, where armed groups have continued to pose challenges to residents and local security structures.

The identities of those responsible for the reported attack and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident had not been independently established at the time of the report.
