₦140 Million Building Drama: Nigerian Man In UK Reportedly Cut Off by Mother, Elder Brother

Published

A Nigerian man based in the United Kingdom has reportedly fallen out with his mother and elder brother after choosing another engineer to handle a ₦140 million building project instead of awarding the contract to his sibling.

The family dispute, which allegedly escalated into the destruction of a building foundation, was shared by an X user, @GloriousGod01, who narrated the incident in a post that has attracted attention online.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the man had planned to construct a house and initially obtained a quotation from an engineer, who estimated the project would cost approximately ₦140 million, excluding workmanship.

He later contacted his elder brother, who is also an engineer, to find out how much he would charge to handle the project. The elder brother reportedly quoted ₦150 million.

When asked about his expected profit, the older sibling allegedly explained that he usually made between ₦10 million and ₦15 million from each project. However, he reportedly offered to reduce his profit margin to between ₦3 million and ₦5 million because the contract involved a family member.

The younger brother reportedly accepted the arrangement, requested his elder brother’s bank details and transferred ₦3 million to him. He later decided to award the contract to the engineer who had provided the initial quotation.

According to the account shared online, the decision angered the elder brother, who allegedly reported the matter to their mother. The younger man reportedly explained that he preferred to keep family relationships separate from business dealings and noted that the ₦3 million payment already represented a significant portion of the profit his brother had indicated he would accept.

The disagreement allegedly took a more serious turn when the engineer selected for the project arrived at the construction site with his workers to begin the job.

The elder brother reportedly arrived at the location with a group of men and allegedly destroyed the building’s foundation, prompting the younger sibling to take action.

The man was said to have arranged for his elder brother to be arrested and detained for three days following the incident. The X user further claimed that the older sibling stayed away from the construction site after his release until the building was completed.

The family disagreement reportedly continued beyond the construction dispute, with the man’s mother allegedly refusing to answer his telephone calls.

In the post, @GloriousGod01 claimed that the man was preparing to open the completed house, but both his mother and elder brother had cut ties with him over the incident.

The account has sparked discussion about the challenges of mixing family relationships with business transactions, particularly when financial interests and expectations are involved. However, the claims remain based on the account shared on social media and have not been independently verified.
