2027 Politics: Kwara Governor Abdulrazaq Visits Tinubu Hours After APC Campaign Council Appointment
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on Tuesday visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, hours after his appointment to a senior position in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election.
The Kwara State Government confirmed the visit in a statement, although details of the discussions between the two leaders were not disclosed.
Abdulrazaq, who chairs the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, was named Deputy Chairman III in the APC’s revised Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid.
The appointment comes as political parties and their leaders continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has welcomed the inclusion of Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the revised APC campaign council, describing the decision as well-deserved and a reflection of progressive political thinking.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, APGA National Publicity Secretary Ejimofor Opara congratulated Soludo, praising his leadership and commitment to progressive ideals.
Opara said Soludo had consistently advocated strategic cooperation between APGA and the Federal Government for the benefit of Anambra State residents and the wider Igbo community.
He also highlighted Soludo’s mantra, “Progressives are Working Together,” describing it as more than a political slogan and arguing that it reflects shared ideological values between APGA and the progressive movement at the national level.
According to the APGA spokesperson, cooperation between the Anambra State Government and the Federal Government has already contributed to infrastructure-related interventions and initiatives aimed at supporting economic development in the state.
The APC’s revised campaign council reportedly includes other political figures, among them Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The developments have drawn attention to the evolving political alliances and engagements ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Abdulrazaq’s visit and APGA’s reaction to Soludo’s inclusion highlight the growing political consultations and cross-party relationships surrounding preparations for the next presidential election.
