Nigeria’s Super Falcons have advanced to the third round of the qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games after recording a commanding 7-0 aggregate victory over Comoros.

The Nigerian women’s national team sealed their progression with a convincing 5-0 win in the second leg of their second-round tie at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, on Tuesday. The result came after their 2-0 victory in the first leg, giving them a comfortable advantage across both encounters.

Uchenna Kanu and Toni Payne were among the standout performers, scoring two goals each in the second-leg encounter. Christy Ucheibe also found the net from the penalty spot as the Super Falcons completed an emphatic victory.

Nigeria will now face Morocco in the third round, with the two-legged fixtures scheduled for early 2027. Morocco secured its place in the round through a walkover after Congo-Brazzaville withdrew from the competition.

The upcoming tie is expected to attract attention following the teams’ memorable meeting in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Nigeria recovered from a two-goal deficit to defeat Morocco 3-2, securing a record-extending 10th continental title.

The Super Falcons will now turn their attention to the Moroccan challenge as they continue their campaign to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Nigeria’s emphatic victory over Comoros has kept the team’s Olympic qualification hopes alive as they prepare for a crucial two-legged encounter against Morocco.
