InDrive Rider Cries Out After Customer Allegedly Leaves Him Stranded For Nearly Two Hours

An InDrive rider has criticised the ride-hailing platform’s cancellation policy after a customer allegedly left him stranded for nearly two hours over a delivery package he claimed was too large to fit into his delivery bag.

The rider expressed his frustration in a video circulating online, alleging that the platform’s rules make it difficult for riders to decline unsuitable delivery requests without risking their ability to earn money.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the rider said he arrived at the pickup location at about 1 p.m. after contacting the customer to confirm the nature of the item he was expected to transport.

He claimed the customer had described the package as a uniform and assured him that it would fit into his delivery bag. However, upon arrival, he discovered that the item was a large Ghana Must Go bag, which he said was too bulky for his equipment.

The rider explained that he immediately informed the customer that he could not carry the package and politely requested that the delivery be cancelled.

“I told them, I cannot carry this thing. Can you please cancel this thing?” he said.

According to his account, the customer initially agreed to the request but later refused to cancel the order, leaving him waiting at the pickup location for almost two hours.

The rider also raised concerns about what he described as an InDrive policy that could prevent riders from working for six hours after cancelling a job. He said the possibility of such a suspension placed him in a difficult situation because it could affect his earnings for the remainder of the day.

“I have been at the mercy of this particular customer, begging and begging for almost two hours now,” he lamented.

He further alleged that the customer attempted to arrange another rider through a different platform to transport the same package after he had explained that he could not carry it.

Questioning the customer’s refusal to cancel the request, the rider argued that customers should be considerate of riders who face practical limitations when handling deliveries.

He also highlighted the expenses associated with the job, including fuel and time, insisting that riders should not be forced into situations where they are expected to transport items they cannot safely or practically accommodate.

The incident has drawn attention to concerns about delivery cancellation policies, the treatment of riders and the need for clearer procedures when packages exceed a rider’s carrying capacity.

The rider’s complaint has also raised questions about whether platforms should provide a fair resolution process for disputes involving unsuitable packages, particularly when cancellation penalties could affect a rider’s ability to earn a living.

As of the time of the report, no official response from InDrive regarding the rider’s allegations was included in the account.
