Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha has recounted a prophecy he allegedly received before his imprisonment, claiming he was told that he would attain greatness after experiencing a major calamity that would bring him immense pain.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the actor shared the account during a courtesy visit to Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho at his residence, following his release from prison in November 2025 after completing his sentence.

Baba Ijesha explained that someone had reportedly received a revelation about his future, predicting that he would become a great man but would first go through a difficult experience that would cause him to shed many tears.

He said the prophecy was made before his imprisonment and that he now associates the painful ordeal with the calamity described in the revelation.

“Before I went to prison, someone saw a revelation about me that I’ll be a great man but a huge calamity will befall me that’ll make me shed lots of tears before the prophecy will eventually come to pass. It was after then I went to prison,” the actor said.

His comments come after he served a prison sentence following his conviction in a case involving the sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child.

The Lagos State High Court convicted Baba Ijesha on July 14, 2022, over offences involving the foster daughter of comedian Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess.

The court sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment for sexual assault and three years for indecent treatment of a child, directing that both sentences run concurrently.

The actor was released in November 2025 after completing his sentence.

His latest account has drawn attention to how he interprets the difficult period surrounding his imprisonment, which he believes corresponds with the earlier prophecy about his future.
