Jide Kosoko Breaks Silence After Party Appearance, Reveals 30-Year Diabetes Journey
Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has revealed that he has been living with diabetes since 1996, explaining that he continues to manage the condition while maintaining his daily activities.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the actor made the disclosure during an appearance on the Africana List podcast, where he also defended his decision to attend a social gathering despite public criticism over his health.
Kosoko questioned why his presence at a party should attract negative reactions, insisting that living with a medical condition does not mean he must withdraw from social activities.
The veteran actor said his experience managing diabetes over the years had taught him the importance of taking care of his health while continuing to live his life.
“Someone is sick, but Jide Kosoko went to a party. Why shouldn’t I go, what’s my offence? I’ve been diabetic since 1996 to date. I’ve been managing it. And I continue to take care of myself because I don’t want to die,” he said.
Kosoko also disclosed that he recently underwent a colonoscopy as part of medical checks to assess his health and look for possible abnormalities, including signs that could indicate cancer.
According to the actor, the procedure was intended to examine his body for potential cancer development. He explained that the examination is typically performed every five years and involves sedating the patient during the process.
“Recently I heard there’s a new test colonoscopy. They wanted to check everywhere to see if cancer is developing in any part of my body. It’s done every five years. They put you to sleep,” Kosoko stated.
His disclosure has drawn attention to his long-term experience living with diabetes and his efforts to monitor his health while remaining active in his personal and professional life.
