2027: Peter Agada Claims Over 40% Of Obidients Still Available Are Backing His Presidential Bid
The presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Peter Agada, has claimed that more than 40 per cent of members of the Obidient Movement who have not defected to other political groups are supporting his ambition ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Agada made the assertion during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, where he discussed his political plans, growing support base and potential alliances with opposition leaders.
Agada, who disclosed that he was previously associated with the Obidient Movement, said his political ambition was focused on building a broad coalition of Nigerians beyond party affiliations.
He maintained that a significant number of Obidient supporters who had not aligned themselves with other political movements were backing his presidential bid, alongside supporters from other political parties.
The YPP candidate also revealed that he was awaiting possible discussions with Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
According to Agada, he was willing to collaborate with either or both opposition figures if their political objectives aligned with his vision and proposed plans for Nigeria.
He stressed that his willingness to work with other political leaders would depend on their readiness to support the policies and programmes he intended to implement if elected president.
Speaking about his electoral expectations, Agada said he was targeting between two million and 10 million votes in the 2027 presidential election.
He explained that the lower figure represented his current assessment of the support base his campaign had built, adding that he expected the number to increase as his political activities expanded.
Agada further disclosed that he had spent the 60 days since emerging as the YPP presidential candidate strengthening his political structure through grassroots mobilisation, presentations and consultations.
He expressed confidence that these efforts would help broaden his appeal and attract more Nigerians to his presidential ambition before the next general election.
His comments come amid ongoing efforts by opposition politicians to build alliances and consolidate support ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
