Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has appointed former Big Brother Naija housemate Munirat Antoinette Lecky, popularly known as Anto Lecky, as his Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Creative Economy.

Lecky announced the appointment in a post on Instagram, expressing gratitude to the governor for giving her another opportunity to serve Edo State and Nigeria in a new capacity.

She described the appointment as an opportunity to contribute to the development of her home state and the country, particularly in promoting tourism and strengthening the creative economy.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Lecky believes Edo State is well-positioned to become a major tourism and creative industry destination, given its cultural heritage, the return of stolen Benin Bronzes, plans to open museums and the continued growth of its entertainment sector.

In her message, she thanked Okpebholo for the confidence placed in her and pledged to contribute to advancing the state’s tourism and creative economy.

“I thank His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State, for the opportunity to serve him, my state and my country again in another capacity to serve as his Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Creative Economy,” she said.

Lecky added that the return of Benin Bronzes, the anticipated opening of museums and the expansion of the entertainment industry presented an important opportunity for Edo State to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s tourism and creative sectors.

“With the return of many stolen Benin Bronzes, soon-to-be-opened museums, and an ever-growing entertainment industry, there is no better time for Edo State to be at the forefront of tourism and the creative economy in Nigeria and the world,” she stated.

Her appointment places the former reality television personality in a role focused on promoting Edo State’s cultural attractions and exploring opportunities within its tourism and creative industries.
