Stevie Wonder Seeks Eviction Of Ex-Fiancée Who Allegedly Lived In His LA Property Since 1988
Legendary American singer Stevie Wonder has reportedly filed an eviction lawsuit against his former fiancée, Carmen Efferson, over her continued occupation of a Los Angeles property he owns, where she allegedly lived rent-free for nearly four decades.
According to Bush Radio Academy, court documents indicate that Efferson has been living in the property since July 1988 under an informal arrangement that was never documented in writing. The lawsuit reportedly states that she was not required to pay monthly rent during her stay.
The legal dispute allegedly arose after Wonder’s representatives made several attempts during the summer to gain access to the property for an insurance inspection. According to the lawsuit, Efferson refused to allow them inside, raising concerns about the property’s insurance coverage.
Wonder’s legal team reportedly argued that the inability to inspect the property placed its insurance protection at risk. Consequently, they issued Efferson a notice in July terminating her permission to remain in the home.
Court documents further indicate that Efferson was expected to vacate the property by August 27. However, the lawsuit alleges that she remained there beyond the deadline.
Wonder is now asking the court to order Efferson to leave the property. He is also seeking damages and reimbursement for legal expenses associated with the case.
The allegations are contained in the lawsuit, and the court will determine the outcome of the dispute.
