Nigerian Soldier Reveals Why He Rushed To Apply For A Course In Lagos After Dating Maiduguri Lady
A Nigerian soldier, Adediwuraola Ishola, has sparked laughter online after recounting an unusual dating experience involving a woman identified as Falmata, whom he dated while serving in Maiduguri, Borno State.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Ishola shared the story in a Facebook post, explaining that Falmata, a Shuwa Arab woman, frequently carried a small knife whenever she visited him.
The soldier said he initially assumed she carried the knife for self-defence because of the security challenges in the region. However, his perception changed after he jokingly asked her why she always came with the weapon.
According to Ishola, Falmata gave him an unexpected response, warning that he would understand the reason for carrying the knife if he ever attempted to end their relationship.
“As a soldier, I discovered something in Maiduguri that still makes me laugh whenever I remember it,” he wrote.
He explained that he had been dating Falmata, whom he described as a beautiful woman, and that her regular visits always included the small knife.
“At first, I assumed it was for self-defence because of the insecurity in Maiduguri,” he said.
Recounting the conversation that followed, Ishola said he jokingly asked her, “Falmata, why do you always carry this knife?”
Her response, he claimed, was direct: “Try breaking up with me and you will understand.”
The soldier said the statement immediately made him reconsider the situation, adding humorously that he had no intention of testing her threat.
He further revealed that he applied for a course in Lagos that same week, joking that although he had strong feelings for Falmata, his instinct for self-preservation was even stronger.
“That same week, I quickly applied for a course in Lagos. My love for Falmata was strong, but my love for life was stronger,” he wrote.
The account has drawn attention for its humorous portrayal of an unusual relationship experience, with Ishola presenting the incident as a memorable encounter from his time in Maiduguri.
