2027: Wike Declares Rivers State Fully Behind Tinubu, Sends Strong Message To Political Opponents
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that Rivers State is firmly behind President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, while expressing hope that the state will move beyond political violence, killings and internal divisions.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Wike made the declaration on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, during the unveiling of candidates under the Rainbow Coalition in Port Harcourt, where he called on political stakeholders to embrace unity and collective leadership.
The former Rivers State governor said the event sent a clear message about the state’s political position ahead of the next general elections, insisting that Rivers State was fully aligned with Tinubu.
“I’m sure that you have made a statement today for those who might not know, they should know today that Rivers State is entirely for President Bola Tinubu,” Wike said.
He also expressed optimism that the state would avoid a return to political violence and instability, urging political leaders and supporters to work towards a more peaceful and united environment.
According to Wike, Rivers State should no longer be associated with killings, conflicts and political divisions. Instead, he said, stakeholders should prioritise peace and cooperation in the interest of the state.
“Speakers have said here that Rivers State is united, that in this dispensation we will not have Rivers of blood again, we won’t have killings and crisis amongst us, rather what we will have is a united one Rivers State and one government,” he stated.
The FCT minister further advocated a collective approach to governance, rejecting the idea that electoral victory should allow one political group to exercise exclusive control over the affairs of the state.
He argued that political leaders should work together to sustain the progress made under the current Rivers State administration.
“It’s no longer like the candidate of APC has said that winners take it all, it’s going to be everybody’s collective leadership that as far as Rivers State is concerned, in order to continue where the governor of Rivers State has stopped,” Wike said.
His remarks come as political parties and their supporters intensify preparations and positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, Wike’s declaration reflects his political stance and does not independently establish how voters across Rivers State will vote in the forthcoming election.
