The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has announced the commencement of applications for the conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for 2027, setting a non-refundable processing fee of ₦5 million for private legal practitioners and ₦2.5 million for lawyers employed by government institutions.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the committee disclosed in a notice issued on Wednesday that its online application portal would open at midnight on November 1, 2026, with the submission window scheduled to close at midnight on January 31, 2027.

The notice was signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and Secretary of the LPPC, Kabir Eniola Akanbi.

The committee stated that the application exercise would be conducted through its official website, www.lppconline.com, in accordance with Section 5(2) of the Legal Practitioners Act and Paragraphs 10(1)–(4) of the 2022 Guidelines for the Conferment of the Rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Applicants have been directed to pay the prescribed processing fees into the committee’s designated accounts with Zenith Bank or Guaranty Trust Bank. The designated Zenith Bank account number is 1014103141, while the GTBank account number is 0213662834.

The LPPC explained that candidates must upload evidence of payment to the online portal for verification. Upon confirmation, applicants will receive an email from the secretariat authorising them to proceed with the application process.

The committee also instructed candidates, including legal practitioners seeking the rank through advocacy and academia, to upload clear and legible copies of all mandatory documents and supporting materials required for the exercise.

Applicants are further required to submit five flash drives containing copies of their completed application forms downloaded from the portal, alongside all mandatory and supporting documents uploaded during the online application process.

The deadline for submitting the flash drives to the LPPC Secretariat has been fixed for 4:00 p.m. on February 1, 2027, a day after the online application portal closes.

For candidates seeking the SAN rank through academia, the committee specified an additional requirement of seven physical photocopies each of their curriculum vitae and impact statement, alongside the prescribed flash drives.

The LPPC warned that applications that fail to comply with its guidelines or are submitted after the stipulated deadlines will be rejected and treated as though they were never submitted.

Prospective applicants requiring further clarification have been advised to contact the committee’s secretariat through lppcsecretariat@courts.gov.ng.

The announcement outlines the requirements and deadlines for lawyers seeking one of Nigeria’s most prestigious professional legal distinctions in 2027.
