Oshiomhole Launches Scathing Attack On Amaechi, Calls ADC Chieftain Shallow And Unreliable

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has launched a scathing attack on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, describing him as “shallow” and “unreliable” over what he characterised as inconsistencies in his political positions.

Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District, made the remarks during an interview on TVC on Wednesday, questioning Amaechi’s credibility and his recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the former Edo State governor accused Amaechi of turning against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the current administration despite his previous association with the party and his service in government.

He also questioned Amaechi’s relationship with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is the ADC’s presidential candidate, citing an alleged dispute between the two politicians over Atiku’s emergence as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election.

Oshiomhole claimed that Amaechi had previously described Atiku’s primary election victory as fraudulent and challenged his emergence in court.

According to the senator, Amaechi’s subsequent political alignment with Atiku contradicted his earlier position and raised questions about his consistency.

Oshiomhole argued that Nigerians should examine Amaechi’s past statements before taking his current political criticisms seriously.

He further recalled that Amaechi had allegedly criticised Atiku in the past, describing him as an ethnic champion who, in his view, would struggle to govern a country as diverse as Nigeria.

The former APC national chairman questioned how Amaechi could now align himself with a politician he had reportedly criticised in such strong terms.

Oshiomhole maintained that the former Rivers State governor’s political positions had changed over time, arguing that the development undermined his credibility.

He also dismissed Amaechi’s recent comments about Nigeria’s economic and political challenges, describing them as hypocritical and questioning whether they genuinely reflected concern for the welfare of citizens.

The senator urged Nigerians to scrutinise Amaechi’s criticism of Tinubu’s administration, arguing that his record as a former governor and minister should also be considered when assessing his claims.

Oshiomhole’s remarks have added to the growing political exchanges involving members of the APC and opposition figures as political alignments and preparations for the 2027 general election continue to attract public attention.
