Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has opened up about the emotional challenges of fame, revealing that she sometimes breaks down in tears behind closed doors while dealing with public scrutiny and the pressures of her career.

The actress made the disclosure during an interview with CNN, where she discussed the personal struggles that often remain hidden behind her cheerful public image.

According to Akindele, there are moments when the weight of public attention becomes overwhelming, leaving her emotionally distressed. She explained that she sometimes retreats to her room to cry and release her emotions before finding the strength to continue with her daily activities.

“I cry. I lock myself in the room, cry, break down, and hit the bed. But I just pick myself up and come back to life,” she said.

The actress also revealed that public opinions and criticism sometimes make her question her decisions, particularly when she worries about how people might perceive her actions.

She admitted that there are occasions when she reflects on certain choices and wonders whether she has made another mistake, especially when considering the possibility of being judged by the public.

“Sometimes I tell myself, you’ve made a mistake again. How are people going to judge you?” she added.

However, Akindele stressed that she has developed the ability to recover from such difficult moments and move forward despite criticism.

Her revelation offers a glimpse into the emotional demands of maintaining a public profile, highlighting the challenges celebrities can face away from the cameras and public attention.
