Arsenal Make Champions League History After Beating Slavia Prague 2-1
Arsenal have made history in the UEFA Champions League after securing a 2-1 victory over Slavia Prague on Wednesday night, extending their unbeaten away record in the competition to 10 consecutive matches.
The victory also lifted the Gunners to third position in the Champions League league-phase standings, further strengthening their campaign.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Arsenal established a comfortable two-goal advantage in the first half through Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyökeres, putting Mikel Arteta’s side in control of the encounter.
However, the Premier League side failed to extend their lead despite creating opportunities to add to their tally.
Slavia Prague took advantage of the situation when Wiktor Nowak scored a late goal, reducing the deficit and setting up a tense finish.
The goal increased the pressure on Arsenal, particularly during the five minutes of stoppage time, as the hosts pushed forward in search of an equaliser.
Despite the late pressure, Arteta’s men remained organised defensively and successfully held on to secure all three points.
The result means Arsenal have recorded 10 consecutive away matches without defeat in the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.
The historic achievement further highlights the Gunners’ impressive form in European football as they continue their pursuit of success in this season’s competition.
