One Of the Best In The World – Mittelstädt Warns Stuttgart About Osimhen’s Threat
Stuttgart left-back Maximilian Mittelstädt has described Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as one of the best forwards in world football ahead of his side’s UEFA Champions League meeting with Galatasaray.
The Germany international acknowledged the threat posed by the Super Eagles striker, praising his consistency and impressive performances over the past few seasons.
Osimhen has enjoyed a productive start to the current campaign, scoring 10 goals in 10 appearances across all competitions. His impressive run includes a goal against his former club, Lille, in the Champions League.
The 27-year-old is expected to lead Galatasaray’s attack against Stuttgart, although he reportedly received treatment during the Turkish club’s most recent Süper Lig fixture.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Mittelstädt said Stuttgart had prepared for a difficult encounter, noting that Galatasaray possess quality players in both defence and attack.
He specifically identified Osimhen as a major threat, pointing to the striker’s performances in recent years as evidence of his world-class ability.
Mittelstädt also stressed that Galatasaray have several other established international players, warning that Stuttgart must remain alert to threats from across the Turkish side’s squad rather than concentrating exclusively on Osimhen.
He added that the encounter would demand a strong performance from his teammates but expressed confidence that Stuttgart would approach the match with adequate preparation.
Meanwhile, the Champions League fixture offers Osimhen another opportunity to strengthen his standing in Galatasaray’s European history.
The Nigerian forward has scored eight goals in the Champions League for the Turkish giants and is closing in on Burak Yılmaz’s record of 10 goals for the club in the competition.
Osimhen is therefore within reach of becoming Galatasaray’s joint second-highest scorer in Champions League history, further underlining his growing influence at the club.
