JAMB Issues Strong Warning To CBT Centres Ahead Of 2027 UTME
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned that computer-based test (CBT) centres that fail to meet its operational standards will not be accredited to conduct the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The examination body said accreditation would be granted only to centres with adequate facilities, reliable infrastructure and the technical capacity to conduct examinations smoothly without unnecessary disruptions.
According to Bush Radio Academy, JAMB Registrar, Professor Segun Aina, disclosed the requirements during a meeting with the leadership of the Chief External Examiners, where preparations for the 2027 UTME accreditation exercise were reviewed.
The board explained that the meeting formed part of its efforts to strengthen examination administration and ensure strict compliance with established operational guidelines.
In a statement shared on JAMB’s official X account on Thursday, November 5, the board stressed that accreditation would not be automatic for centres seeking to participate in the forthcoming examination.
It maintained that only facilities capable of providing candidates with secure, reliable and conducive examination environments would receive approval.
JAMB further explained that the screening process was designed to eliminate centres with inadequate equipment, poor infrastructure and insufficient technical readiness, which could compromise the smooth conduct of computer-based examinations.
The board emphasised that candidates deserve fair and secure conditions regardless of their examination locations, adding that enforcing the accreditation standards would help protect them from avoidable technical challenges.
It urged CBT centre operators seeking to participate in the 2027 UTME to ensure they meet all stipulated requirements, warning that facilities that fall short would not be allowed to host the examination.
