Massive Shake-Up In NSCDC As 66 Officers Face Dismissal, Retirement And Demotion
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 66 personnel across its commands nationwide over various forms of misconduct, including alleged involvement in arms dealing.
The Commandant General of the corps, Ahmed Audi, disclosed this during an interview with journalists in Abuja on Friday, explaining that the affected officers received different disciplinary measures based on the nature and severity of their alleged offences.
According to Audi, the sanctions include dismissal, compulsory retirement, demotion and official warnings. He said the decisions were approved by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) following investigations into allegations of misconduct against the personnel.
The NSCDC chief added that some of the affected officers would face prosecution over their alleged offences, while others had already been dismissed following legal proceedings.
He explained that the corps followed its established disciplinary procedures before taking action against the personnel. These processes included orderly room trials and investigations conducted by relevant staff disciplinary committees.
Audi stressed that discipline remains a fundamental principle of military and paramilitary organisations, noting that the corps would not tolerate misconduct among its personnel.
“Some of them are to face prosecution while some had been dismissed after facing prosecution. They will be prosecuted because of the veracity of the offence, level and kind of offence they have committed,” he said.
He further emphasised that the culture of any military or paramilitary organisation is built on discipline.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the NSCDC leadership maintains that the disciplinary measures are part of efforts to enforce accountability and uphold professional standards across the corps.
