Delap Makes Chelsea Regret Losing Him, Scores Brace In Forest’s Shock Win Over Man City

Liam Delap delivered an outstanding performance against Manchester City, scoring twice to inspire Nottingham Forest to an impressive 3-1 victory at the City Ground and hand the defending side another painful Premier League defeat.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the result marked Manchester City’s third consecutive league defeat, further increasing the pressure on manager Enzo Maresca, while Forest celebrated an important victory in their fight to move away from the relegation zone.

Delap, who previously played for Chelsea, produced a memorable performance, scoring with both his right and left foot to help Forest secure all three points and end an eight-and-a-half-hour wait for a home goal.

Forest took an early lead through Jair Cunha, who capitalised on a defensive mistake by Josko Gvardiol before driving into the penalty area and beating goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with a composed finish after just six minutes.

The hosts doubled their advantage through Delap following another defensive misunderstanding involving Manchester City players. The forward collected the ball in his own half, powered past the opposition defence and fired beyond Donnarumma to make it 2-0.

Manchester City came close to reducing the deficit before the interval when Erling Haaland rounded Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels, but Cunha produced an important goal-line clearance to preserve his team’s advantage.

Maresca responded by making changes at half-time, with Manchester City returning for the second half determined to turn the game around.

Their efforts eventually paid off when Rayan Cherki found the back of the net with an excellent strike after Jeremy Doku’s delivery created an opportunity around the edge of the penalty area.

The goal briefly revived City’s hopes of securing a comeback, but Forest remained dangerous and eventually restored their two-goal advantage.

Following a counter-attacking move involving Morgan Gibbs-White, Delap received the ball and produced a superb left-footed finish into the corner of the net to complete his brace and seal the 3-1 victory.

Forest manager Oliver Glasner celebrated enthusiastically as his team secured a significant result against one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

The defeat represents another major setback for Manchester City, who have now suffered three consecutive league losses, giving Arsenal a significant boost in the title race with their six-point advantage at the top.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest will take considerable confidence from the victory, which also pushed Manchester United into the Premier League relegation zone.

Delap’s impressive display is also likely to attract attention, particularly following his departure from Chelsea, as the forward demonstrated his goalscoring quality with a decisive performance against one of England’s leading clubs.
