A voting session was conducted and the election between two Chieftains of the All Progressive Congress, Akpabio and Yari. Although Akpabio was the choice of the All Progressive Congress and the anointed candidate of President Tinubu and Vice Kashim Shettima.

The names of those who voted for Akpabio and Yari have been revealed and have sparked reactions amongst many Nigerians. As seen in the picture below Jimoh Ibrahim was the only South-West Senator that cast his vote for Yari, while some Senators in the South-South voted against their own.
