Adebolu Olulusi, a 43-year-old pastor, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State for his alleged involvement in fraud.

The arrest was made following accusations that the pastor defrauded Taiwo Opesanmi of the sum of N1.2 million. It was reported that between 2019 and 2020, the suspect collected various amounts of money from Opesanmi, promising to assist her in securing a job at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

After receiving the funds, Olulusi allegedly cut off all communication with the victim and could not be found at his residence located at No. 1, Ore Ofe, Irese Road, in Akure, the state capital.

Daniel Aidamenbor, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Command, explained that Opesanmi met the pastor at a prayer mountain in Ijoka, Akure, where they initially encountered each other.

Aidamenbor further revealed that the NSCDC’s Counter Terrorism Unit, in collaboration with a commercial bank, successfully tracked down and apprehended the suspect after obtaining a court order.

During the investigation, another victim of the pastor came forward, accusing him of selling her land using a fake deed of gift for the sum of N800,000. As a result, she had to pay an additional N1 million to the legitimate owner of the land since she had already constructed a structure on it.

The NSCDC continues to carry out its investigations into the case, aiming to gather more evidence and ensure that justice is served.
