Since President Tinubu announced the end of fuel subsidy in his inauguration speech on May 29, the price of fuel has skyrocketed from N195 per litre to N530.
In recent developments, it reached N617 in Abuja and N620 in Kano, causing significant financial strain on citizens.
Reacting to the situation, Salihu, hailing from Bichi LGA in Kano State, expressed his concern and frustration. He mentioned that the new price increase has severely impacted their livelihood, and the current situation is not what they expected when they cast their votes.
He pointed out that his children, who also voted for the current government, are now forced to drop out of school and sell ‘Awara’ due to the economic challenges caused by the high fuel prices.
Salihu emphasized that the government should prioritize the welfare of its citizens and address the issues arising from the fuel price hike.
He expressed disappointment in the representation provided by lawmakers and representatives, stating that the hardship faced by Nigerians is a direct consequence of the fuel price increase and the lack of effective representation.
Salihu further cautioned that if the situation does not improve, citizens may resort to taking the law into their own hands, despite being law-abiding citizens.
He urged the government to address the concerns of the people promptly to avert further hardships and ensure a better future for the nation.
